Rickey's story

In the mid-80s, I was a young man in my 20’s that had an apartment and believed life was good (So I thought). Then the unspeakable happened, I lost my job, apartment, and I was four thousand miles away from my family safety net. For a few months, I slept where I could, bathed at a gym, and the fast-food restaurants feed me.

Unclear as to how I got myself in this situation, I asked a friend for financial advice. I learned that I was financially illiterate, and that was my aha moment.

After that conversation, I read books, attended seminars, but they didn't provide the specifics needed. Although I experienced several failures, I finally started putting the pieces together to solve my problems.

When one of my friends heard about what I was doing, he asked for advice. My friend applied the techniques and paid-off his car in 4 months, instead of 5 years.

Then, another friend heard and asked if I would share the strategies at his seminar. I agreed. This event help birth a national tour to empower families with financial education. A dream was born!
